And adding to our list of pouting divas after Sunday’s Grammy Awards…
Although there was actually an entire pre-grammy charity event hosted in honor of Aretha Frankin as MusiCares’ Woman of the Year, as “a national treasure”, and as “The Queen”, this sister is still not feeling the r-e-s-p-e-c-t! Oh, for the love of soul, gospel, and aging divas everywhere! You old school ladies better give it a rest! With a growing population of the uncaring, instantly gratified, You Tube lovin’ pop-culture youth of today, y’all should just be glad you’re even invited to these events! Read the rest »

“I’m going on record as an artist who is able to critique [Amy Winehouse]. I think she has a great talent, but I don’t agree with the Grammys giving her those nods. I think it sends the wrong message, that even in the midst of her stupor of drugs she can get nominated for all these awards. It’s a slap in the face to musicians and artists who work very hard that they turn around and give it to someone who really obviously doesn’t have a grasp of what she has. I’ve been in this business over 25 years and I sacrificed five years of my own life on drugs and almost lost my life because of it. So I take great offence to almost see someone getting glory out of being in the position that they’re in – she needs to get her life together and embrace her craft, she will lose it if she doesn’t get it together.”- Natalie Cole

“Last night I saw you in my dreams. Now I can’t wait to go to sleep.” -Kanye West.“I can’t believe I’ve won five awards!” -Amy Winehouse.
And with that, I cried. The 50th annual Grammy Awards took place last night with no lack of talent, emotion, excitement, beauty, fashion, and all the additional miscellaneous additives associated with these types of events. In fact, after a stressful year of fallen stars and disillusions, it seems that this year was somehow extra special for all of us. Amy Winehouse rocked the house, and, with her 5 awards earned, there is no doubt she also got a much needed and deserved push of encouragement to continue in her path to recovery and mending of her self esteem. And as for the spectators, we received a much needed wake-up call regarding the emotions of all those celebrities we tend to so de-humanize for our own pleasure and economic gain.I’m sure there was not a dry eye in the house, or even in the homes of all of us watching, when Amy Winehouse hugged her mama long and hard, or when she accepted her awards in a state of shock, looking much like the little girl that she actually is. And, furthermore, quite a few people sobbed quietly to themselves as Kanye West shared with us his pain of loss, but also his unbelievably wise strength, surely resulting from the depths of a loving connection that can only be understood by those who have lived it themselves. Some people like to tell us that “we are never alone,” but its at moments like these that we can actually feel it.Being the sappy crybaby I am, I know that I probably read much more into the events of last night than most people. So, I will just say this to all those who are chuckling at my “girly” or “lame” words: I wish for you, that you come across these feelings of (minimal) awareness, in whatever package is best suited to stir your own thoughts. That is how we’ll stay somewhat human, and that is how we will find some limits beyond those boundaries we will undoubtedly continue to overstep.Confused? I know I tend to ramble. Just know that I’m just wishing y’all some really cool stuff!

Amy looked and sounded absolutely awesome at the Grammy’s! I thought it was so sweet how shocked she was when they read out her name. . .Just priceless. I also loved the way she hugged her Mom and held on. I would love to know what she whispered into that ear before she accepted the award! Amy is on the right path. One day at a time, and today seemed to be a great day for Amy. I hope she just goes out for some fish and chips and celebrates with friends and family, minus any booze and that she avoids toxic influences at all costs. My faith is renewed.

but SHE said, “NO! NO!! NO!!!
Well, officials at the U.S. embassy in London and U.S. officials were bribed convinced by Amy Winehouse’s reps that she actually is worthy of entering the U.S. in order to perform at the Grammys. However, either she actually has grown up some after her stint at rehab, or she has gone back to her old ways, ‘cuz she seems to have gotten somewhat crazy lazy. Read the rest »
