Although it’s all just speculation, there are whispers in the industry that American Idol host Ryan Seacrest could be taking over Larry King’s throne when the CNN host retires from his nightly news show. King, recently signed a contract that would keep him on the network until 2010. BUT! Word on the street is that Seacrest is in serious negotiations to take over the show by the end of this year.

The show, which airs nightly at 9PM on CNN would only create one major issue if Seacrest went on to be it’s host.  Idol airs their result show on Wednesday’s at 9PM meaning Ryan would have to be in 2 places at once.  Apparently that won’t be an issue though because there have already been talks of this being Ryan’s final season on Idol, and the show doing some major renovating before next season to help with the ratings slump.

Only time will tell what really happens. It’s also said that Katie Couric is interested in the job too.  Seacrest has at least guest hosted the show before in King’s absence, Couric has not.  If CNN has any smarts and cares about ratings.  They will not even think of discussing this with Couric.

Does Ryan Seacrest Live have a ring to it? Or should they just call it Larry King Live: with Ryan Seacrest.  I think it’d be an honor to the host of the past 28 years.
