Chinese Baby Gymnasts Strike Again.
Warning: Spoilers ahead! Do not read ahead if you don’t want to know what went down during Monday’s womens individual uneven bars competition in Beijing. US Favorite Nastia Liukin was up against Chinese rug rats He Kexin, and Yang Yilin, two of the gymnasts in the center of the age controversy. Findout how they faired (or un-faired) after this.
It was two near flawless routines from the US’ Liukin, and China’s Hexin, both with start value scores of 7.7 that landed them dead even with a 16.725. But how does the Olympics handle a tie? Math of course.
The tie breaker rules are long and hard to understand if your not a math whiz, but after all the math was complete, Nastia Liukin came up a few decimal points short of Chinese toddler, He Kexin, giving her a second silver medal of these games. Both which have the potential of an eventual transformation into gold if all in the world is right.
Remember, Kexin is supposidly covering up the fact she’s only 14 with forged legal documents!! You have to be 16 during the Olympic year to compete in the games!
Yang Yilin, another possible under-ager was awarded the bronze in the event.
The medal is Nastia Liukin’s 4th of the games, she will go for number 5 tomorrow night on the beam.
