Pitchfork got to sit down with M.I.A. prior to her performance at the Diesel xXx party in New York this past weekend where she returned to the stage for the first time since announcing her retirement, and showed off her baby bump for the first time to all of her fans.
She talks about all of her current and future projects, as well as some of the trouble she’s had to deal with along the way regarding her controversial lyrics.

Before her new hit single Paper Planes blew up on radio waves M.I.A. announced her retirement from music.
Well looks like she had a motive! M.I.A. is going to be and M.O.M.
The British singer showed up with a pretty huge baby belly for a performance at the Diesel XXX event in Brooklyn, New York this past weekend putting to rest the rumors that she might or might not be.
She then spoke with Pitchfork Media and told them;
“When I found out I was pregnant and ‘Paper Planes’ was in the iTunes top 10, it seemed like the whole world was reshuffled in one week, and all my plans went out the window. I’ve got two kids, that’s what it feels like. And that’s the lesson – you can’t make plans.”
M.I.A. is engaged to Ben Brewer who is the lead singer of The Exit, and wants her fans to know she did it right, saying; “I got engaged first, then I got pregnant, kids.”
She also tells Pitchfork that she’s been in the studio working on tracks to a new album, a follow-up to 2007’s Kala.
Retirement, re-shmirement.

M.I.A will be coming out of retirement to play at the Diesel xXx event on October 11 at Pier 3 at the Brooklyn Waterfront.
The New York event will be part of a series of shows that will be happening in 18 different cities on the same day.
N.E.R.D. and Hot Chip will also be performing at the New York show.
Here is an ad Diesel ran overseas for the event. There’s a good chance you wont be seeing it on TV in the U.S. It is however, SFW (safe for work)… kinda.
