Ellen Sets Things Straight On The View.

November 10th, 2008 by Charley

She didn’t appear on the show, but according to Whoopi Goldberg on the view this morning, Ellen Degeneres did phone herself and Barbara Walters to set some things straight that the girls messed up in their recent Hot Topics section where they discussed the passing of Prop 8.

Apparently the view also got some emals from GLADD regarding what was fact and what was fiction.

Check out the segment of The View behind the jump to hear some real facts about Prop 8. Read the rest »

Ellen Reacts to Prop 8.

November 6th, 2008 by Charley

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi took a step towards equality by getting married this summer before Prop 8 put the ban back on same sex marriage in California, now she has to worry about taking a step backward.

Ellen spoke out through a statement regarding her strong feelings on th issue. She said;

“Watching the returns on election night was an amazing experience. Barack Obama is our new president. Change is here. I, like millions of Americans, felt like we had taken a giant step towards equality. We were watching history.

This morning, when it was clear that Proposition 8 had passed in California, I can’t explain the feeling I had. I was saddened beyond belief. Here we just had a giant step towards equality and then on the very next day, we took a giant step away.

I believe one day a ‘ban on gay marriage’ will sound totally ridiculous. In the meantime, I will continue to speak out for equality for all of us.”

And she’s totally right!

Ellen Would Be Lovin’ It.

October 22nd, 2008 by Charley

I like Ellen, so I think this is very important.

Republicans against Prop 8 just posted the following PSA, calling the ammendment to ban gay marriage “backwards.”

Ellen has been campaigning hard for No on Prop 8, as a gay woman who was finally allowed to marry long time partner Portia DeRossi, but has agreed to disagree with all of the candidates for P and VP in this election regarding gay marrige.

All of the candidates have admitted to believing that marriage should be between one man and one woman, though Sarah Palin is the only one who believes there should be a federal ban, rather than a state decision.

But in an episode of the Ellen Degeneres show set to air tomorrow, Senator Joe Biden tells DeGeneres that if he lived in California, he’d vote against prop 8.

Joe the Senator?  More like Joe the liar!

Why didn’t Ellen call old Joe out on this one?

Ellen Will Buy You a Pony!.

October 21st, 2008 by Charley

Ellen DeGeneres just posted the following message on her blog:

“Hey everybody. There’re only a couple weeks left before we vote. In California there’s a proposition that’s trying to take away my right to be married. And if it passes, my marriage will probably no longer be valid.

The supporters of Proposition 8 have raised more than $25 million just to discriminate against same-sex couples who want to get married. That’s a lot of money.

I can think of 25 million other uses for all that money:

- How about paying teachers more?
- What about helping those people who just lost their homes in the recent fires?
- How about buying a pony for every child in California? How much fun would that be?!

Don’t let them convince you that discrimination is okay just because they can pay for a commercial. It’s wrong. Please vote NO ON PROPOSITION 8! I’m begging you. If you vote no on Prop 8, I’ll buy you a pony.”

The Audrina Patridge Media Blitz Begins.

October 8th, 2008 by Charley

Ever since the news broke that LC might have hooked up with Justin Bobby, Audrina has been on an all out career push.

She adorably pouted her lip and wrote a sad face on her blog, started hanging out with Heidi Montag, and then started taking offers to tell her side of the story.

Fast forward to today, when Audrina Patridge will be appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show talking about the drama that is, The Hills.

Audrina told Ellen that she’s yet to get an answer out of either LC (apparently she doesn’t creep on Laurens Myspace) or Justin Bobby, saying when she tried to call Lauren; “she hung up on me and that was my way of making an effort and asking her,I never accused anymore. I just straight-out asked them if they did it or not, and I don’t know what to believe.

She also claims that Justin Bobby, like a regular guy, tried to turn it around on her, adding “Neither of them have really talked to me or made an effort, so I really don’t know what to believe. I don’t want to believe it.”

The Hills is set to film until December when they will decide the fate of the show and any future spin-offs. Expect the Justin Bobby drama to hit MTV some time towards the beginning of November, which means one thing, more Justin Bobby!

P.S. LC is a hanger-upper?!?? What a bitch!

New Kanye Video.

October 7th, 2008 by Charley

Kanye West premiered the video for his new single; Love Lockdown, on the Ellen DeGeneres show yesterday.

Kanye is always good on Ellen because it’s like the two are BFFs. Kanye even told Ellen she was a style icon and that people should definitely look to her for fashion tips, especially the guys.

Unfortunately the song is the worst song Kanye has ever done. Even worse than Jesus Walks, which is one of the worst songs ever.

Regardless, some of ya’ll might like it, and for that I bring you the video.

$50,000 “Fallout” Bill.

October 2nd, 2008 by Charley

Everyone’s talking about the Senate passing the 700-billion-dollar bailout bill that is currently sitting on the house floor waiting for a vote.  But November is right around the corner and celebrities are trying to help out with the other issues.

Ellen recently put California’s Prop 8 into  citizen terms on her official website, urging you to vote NO and against the ban on gay marriage.

Fallout boy wants to urge you to do the same.  The Chicago based band has just pledged a $50,000 donation to support No on 8.

Pete Wentz just updated his blog with the following;

“There are a lot of causes out there — a lot of ‘good’ fights to be fought. I think proposition 8 is pretty lame — as many others do too. It’s fucking lame.”

As John McCain said in a recent interview with Gay publication, The Washington Blade;

“As a Republican, I am a strong advocate for federalism. States should be able to decide as many issues as possible. That’s certainly the case on the definition of marriage.”

His opponent, Barack Obama shares the same view on this issue.  He supports civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.

It’s up to the states, so VOTE NO on Prop 8.
